Stephen Hadden is a Senior Consultant at the Boston office of Plexus Research, an R. W. Beck company, where he provides guidance to utilities nationwide on advanced technologies in metering, customer service and demand management.
Mr. Hadden received the BS degree in Engineering Physics from Cornell University. He worked for fifteen years at GE, first as a systems engineer, then as manager, developing microprocessor-based systems for monitoring and control of mechanical and electrical systems. As Engineering Manager, Mr. Hadden was responsible for new system development from initial R&D concept to mass-produced product.
At Plexus since 1987, Mr. Hadden has conducted market and technical research for EPRI, supported utility AMI and customer service technology programs, and guided developments in home automation. He has provided expert witness support to utility AMI regulatory proceedings. He was a key contributor to the 1998 Plexus report for the NARUC on metering requirements for an open retail electric market. He has been central in a number of utility projects evaluating prepayment and power line communication technologies, including broadband on power line (BPL). And he has developed detailed business modeling methods for evaluating the financial viability of utility advanced metering.
Mr. Hadden has published regularly and has been an invited speaker at national utility industry meetings. He has been named as an inventor on six US patents.
