Background


Dr. Reynolds is a recognized U.S. National consultant on solar-hydrogen energy. He has over 40 years experience in both the U.S. Government and the solar, chemical, and nuclear industries.

Since 1998, Dr. Reynolds was an independent solar-hydrogen consultant for a number of companies for solar projects as well as a solar energy consultant to Goldman-Sachs Investment Company. Dr. Reynolds was invited lecturer at several international solar conferences. He was also interviewed for a solar energy article in the New York Times.

He consulted in the design, development, and economic analysis of 24/7 large solar-hydrogen power plants (200-500 MWe) for Environmental Developments International(EDI). He has written four white papers on the Solar-Hydrogen Energy and Economy for the electric power industry and hydrogen industry. (See www.energypulse.net, www.hydrogennow.org and others). He has written three business plans for: a) developing 100 solar-hydrogen fueling stations for fuel cell autos, b) converting 18-wheeler trucks to hydrogen fuel, and c) for a hydrogen-electric powered refrigeration unit for large cargo shipping containers.

Earlier, Dr. Reynolds was a nuclear research engineer for General Electric at their Vallecitos Research Center for eight years. He was part of the chemical and nuclear pilot-plant development team for nuclear fuel reprocessing technology for commercial nuclear fuel power plants as well as other nuclear development projects.

He has over 300 company, Federal Government technical reports, technical presentations and peer-reviewed papers on solar-hydrogen energy, nuclear engineering, and chemical sciences. He has three U.S. Patents and two patent applications.

In the rush to get the solar energy systems up and running, we are throwing low-efficiency PV cells on prime solar land. This does not make for a good investment. Subsequently, there are three major cost factors that include PV efficiency which make for a good solar PV farm. I will discuss these factors later. But, let us divert for a moment to delve into some other PV areas.

Currently, there are three main driving forces for the transition from the Petroleum Economy to the Solar-Hydrogen Economy. The first and most obvious is the rapid rising cost of gasoline (100% in 2 years), fuel oil and the depletion of oil supplies. The second driving force is our environment, i.e. global warming, and air pollution. The third is our national security.

Although the imminent exhaustion of the world's fossil fuel would certainly propel us to the Solar Hydrogen Economy, we need the fossil fuel to make the transition. Therefore, we need to have some idea as to when it might be exhausted.
