Background


Mr. Reynolds has over 25 years of experience in the energy business, originating and leading the successful completion of new projects and acquisitions in both the electricity and natural gas industries.

He has been active in the Texas retail power industry since its inception in 2001. He co-managed the startup of three Retail Electric Providers, focusing on marketing to large industrial/commercial customers, contracting wholesale power supply, and establishing and managing transactions with the Independent System Operator. Also, developed business plans, credit agreements with suppliers, and pro forma financial statements.

He was elected to the ERCOT Technical Advisory Committee in 2002 and 2003.

Current consulting engagement as Principal with Power & Gas Consulting, LLC is with Affordable Power Plan, start-up Texas power retailer. Market focus is on the residential and small commercial pre-paid market - using marketing channels already in place for their pre-paid telecom business. Set up pricing, contracts, etc. and advised on regulatory requirements with ERCOT, TDSPs, PUCT, wholesale suppliers, etc.

Long term engagement as General Manager of ECONnergy Energy Company Texas. Set up all operations for independent retail electric provider (REP) in Texas, including: TDSP and ERCOT contracts and transactions, supply acquisition, load forecasting, etc. Initiated marketing programs with residential and commercial customers. Led to acquisition of 10,000 customers.

Long term engagement with American National Power, Inc. A major wholesale power supplier in ERCOT with 3100 MW, ANP awarded assignment to evaluate establishing a retail business in Texas. For ANP Power Direct, developed Business Plan, pro forma financial statements, and contract services.

Previously, as VP Asia for El Paso Energy, Mr. Reynolds led multi-functional teams in identifying, bidding, and negotiating the acquisition of power plants in South Korea and China, transactions valued at $1.7 Billion.

Mr. Reynolds was a key individual in the deregulation of the gas industry as head of business development for Tenneco’s Tenngasco Company, the first major trader and marketer of natural gas in the U. S. during gas deregulation in the mid-1980’s. He developed natural gas pipeline projects in Texas, the Midwest and Northeast, as well as long term gas supply agreements. He created Tenneco Power Company, the unregulated power company of Tenneco, Inc.

Mr. Reynolds holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Welcome ya'll to the Texas Retail Market - now 3 1/2 years old and growing more mature by the day. The market seems like it is in its teenage years now - lots of promise, but lots of maturing (and uncertainties) still ahead.
