Background

Richard Wilburn is a PhD student with the department of chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His primary research interests are in analytical chemistry; specifically the engineering and development of chromatographic instrumentation such as liquid chromatography and capillary electrophoresis. His industrial background includes working in the energy sector with environmental and chemical processes such as scrubbers and selective catalytic reduction with a major domestic utility company. Other experience involves working as a subcontractor on an EPA granted project for the engineering and development of an industrial waste remediation process. Richard is the author of several publications and conference proceedings and also holds a bachelor of science in chemical technology at the University of Cincinnati.

The hydrogen economy is a futuristic utopia of zero emission hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, greenhouse gas-free power generation and energy independence to many people in the general public. Its development is a technical feat that will measure-up near to the development of the Apollo space program that launched the first U.S. astronaut into space in response to the Soviet threat during the Cold war and as significant as the industrial revolution that gave birth to the industrial tycoons of steel and oil.
