Roland S. Timsit holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Toronto. He spent 20 years in the aluminum industry where he led R&D activities relating to electrical contact properties of aluminum alloys, lubrication/wear, brazing of aluminum and copper alloys, and other surface technologies. From 1994 to 1999, he was Director of Technology and Chief Technologist at AMP Incorporated.
Roland Timsit is author or over 100 papers, including Chapter I of the IEEE Book Publication entitled "Electric Contacts: Theory and Applications", 1999, and holds 14 patents. He is recipient of the IEEE Holm Achievement Award and two IEEE Best Paper Awards, all for work in electrical contacts. He is recipient of the Peaslee Brazing Award from the American Welding Society. Currently, Roland is President of Timron Scientific Consulting Inc., a company serving the needs of electrical/electronic connector manufacturers and users, located in Toronto, Canada.
