Background


Ian French is an Industry Analyst at Frost & Sullivan. Ian has worked from its London office for over three years specializing in distributed generation as part of its 'Power and Energy' team. He also works on market consulting projects outside of this field. Prior joining Frost & Sullivan he worked for six years within the UK's power industry.

Recent published studies and articles include those focused on gen-sets, UPS, trigeneration, microturbines and power rentals markets. In the last decade, biogas utilisation from wastewater treatment plants, industrial processing applications, landfill and the agricultural sector has increased. Plants for biogas production are commercially available and systems have been installed throughout the EU. However, government support is currently required to make them commercially attractive in the absence of other issues, such as pollution control or increased time and management efficiencies.
