Dr Philip E. Lewis, VaasaEmg (Nordic Centre for Expertise in Energy & Utilities Marketing), University of Vaasa, Finland

Dr Lewis holds a PhD. in Marketing from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Having developed his graduate marketing expertise in the banking sector with American Express in Frankfurt and National Westminster Bank in London, he became involved in the energy industry in 1996 as head of Marketing Research and Analysis for Beacon, the British energy retailing subsidiary of Amoco (now BP) and Seeboard (now Edf) during deregulation of the 20 million customer gas market and final preparation for deregulation of the electricity market. Beacon was the leading winner of new gas customers during this period and Seeboard was subsequently successful during deregulation of electricity.

Dr Lewis established and now heads VaasaEmg (The Nordic Centre for Expertise in Energy & Utilities Marketing) at the University of Vaasa, focusing on nordic and international markets. With his special interest in customer behaviour and psychology in mind he has published & presented extensively, especially at major energy, utilities, e-commerce, service and consumer behaviour conferences around the world. He has been commissioned to design research and provide consultancy to over 150 organizations including Fortum, Vattenfall, Nokia, Finnish Electricity Association (SENER) and the Finnish Ministry of Trade and Industry. Dr Lewis is also editor of the recently published 'Energyforum Global Report on Deregulated Electricity Marketing' and a member of the Global Round-Table of Energy & Utilities Marketing Experts.
