Background


Braham Singh is CEO of Red Snapper (M) Sdn. Bhd.

Red Snapper is a Malaysian company in the business of promoting alternative technologies in Asian cities and rural areas. Red Snapper is a Government linked company with equity participation by the Malaysian Government.

Red Snapper is primarily involved in wireless broadband and solar energy initiatives in Malaysia and India. Projects include Wireless Perak, Wireless Malacca and the YouSnapper wireless broadband joint venture in India with leading Indian nation-wide ISP You Telecom. On the solar front, the Red Solar project promotes the Muni-solar concept in Malaysia. Red Solar recently entered into a joint venture with American partners, to build a $250million PV cell production facility in Ipoh, Perak.

Prior to joining Red Snapper, Braham was COO of the leading telecommunications provider PCCW Global in HK (previously called BtN Access Limited and BtN Access Inc.)

Braham has written several articles on wireless telecommunications and Solar energy. He has also written two screenplays and is currently writing his first novel based on a true story about refugees from the Holocaust and the Indian Partition.

The argument covered in this article recently convinced a Malaysian state government to present Muni-Wireless type solar facilities as an option to its city and town administrations. I am opening it up here for others to digest believing this to be a practical solution for power generation in Asia and Africa especially along the equatorial belt.
